Captain Joe Burns

Capt. Joe Burns is a 25-year veteran of the aviation technology and communications industry who most recently served as Managing Director of Flight Operations Technology and Flight Test at United Airlines, with responsibility for over $200M in NextGen and technology programs. He is a widely-recognized expert on aviation and has served as a guest speaker and panelist at many industry events.  Capt. Burns holds numerous Executive Chairman, Advisory and Engineering Positions including:

  • Chairman and Vice-Chairman Positions: Chairman Emeritus for the ATA Air Traffic Control Council, Chairman Emeritus of the ATA Airline Operations Committee; former Vice-Chairman of the Airborne Internet Consortium; and former Board Member of the FAA’s Free Flight Steering Committee; Optical Detection Systems, Inc.; and AirDat, LLC
  • Executive Branch and Advisory Board: Navigation, and Time (GPS); Board Member for Aspen Avionics; Member of the NextGen Advisory Council Subcommittee; Board Member Emeritus for EMS Technologies (NASDAQ:ELMG); Board Member and CEO Emeritus of ATN Systems, Inc.; Advisory Board Member for the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR/UCAR)

Capt. Burns holds an M.B.A. in Management from the Miami University distinguished Farmer School of Business and a B.S. in Aeronautics/Aeronautical Engineering from Miami University.  He also holds multiple patents in Communications, Security, and Sensor Technology.

Brian Haynes

President

Brian Haynes is a 25-year aviation technology veteran launching, building and managing successful businesses and business units. His development work includes innovations in radar, automated environmental sensor systems, pilot briefing systems, aircraft and satellite datalinks, and flight crew displays. Mr. Haynes has also served as an engineer and manager with United Airlines, Honeywell, and Pan Am.  Mr. Haynes is a licensed pilot and an active member of the IEEE and has published scientific papers with NASA and the FAA.

Daniel Johnson

VP Business Development

Dan Johnson has 25 years of experience in the aviation, sensor systems and communications industry.  Mr. Johnson’s has served as Business Development Manager for Goodrich Corporation’s Sensor Systems Division for civilian and military fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters and Director of Sales and Marketing for Wipaire and FireBoss. Mr. Johnson is a licensed commercial pilot with experience in flight-test, certification, special-mission and irregular operations.

Michael Haynes

CFO

Michael Haynes is a 26-year veteran of the aviation, weather, and information services industries. As a founding partner of several companies, Mr. Haynes has been involved in most aspects of the business management with extensive experience in operations, finance, legal and administration.

Dr. John B. “Jack” Mowell

Chairman of the Board

Dr. Jack Mowell is a seasoned business executive with over 32 years of experience with two major aerospace companies, EMS Technologies (sold to Honeywell for $491 Million) and Reflectone, Inc., with which he served as Executive Chairman and Chairman/CEO, respectfully.   He currently also serves on the Board of Aspen Avionics.  Dr. Mowell holds degrees from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Economics and Finance, and has an Honorary Doctorate in Aviation from Rocky Mountain College, Montana, where he currently serves as a Trustee.   He previously served in the military as a Commander in the United States Navy, serving in carrier squadrons as a naval aviator.

John M. Belcher

Independent Director

John Belcher has more than 35 years of experience in the aviation, aerospace, airport, information technology, communications and defense industries.  He presently serves on the boards of LandMark Aviation, Signalhorn, NanoVapor, FLYHT, Anne Arundel Health System, and World Trade Center Institute, and is an advisory board member at Cyber Reliant.   Mr. Belcher was formerly the CEO for ARINC which sold to Rockwell for over $1.3B in 2013, after which ARINC owner Carlyle Group named Mr. Belcher its recipient of the Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. Excellence award for leadership and management.    Mr. Belcher is a leading authority in aviation and air transportation in Canada, having served as Chairman of the Canadian Advanced Technology Association, President Advisory Board University of Waterloo, as a Board of Director for numerous national trade associations and aerospace technology companies.  He is also a recipient of the Canadian National Transportation Award.   Mr. Belcher received a BS in applied science from the University of Ottawa and a postgraduate diploma in communications systems engineering from Queen’s University.

K. Dillon Schickli

Independent Director

Dillon Schickli has more than 30 years of experience managing and growing private businesses and has been a private investor since August 2013. Mr. Schickli formerly served as CEO of DS Waters Group, Inc. after he led the buyout of the business in 2005 by Kelso & Company, a private equity firm based in New York. After retiring in 2013, Mr. Schickli lead the buyout of DS Waters by Crestview Partners, a private equity firm based in New York and served as Vice Chairman until the business was sold in late 2014. Mr. Schickli currently serves on the board of Camping World Holdings, Inc., (NYSE: CWH). Camping World is the only provider of a comprehensive portfolio of services, protection plans, products and resources for recreational vehicle (“RV”) enthusiasts. Mr. Schickli started his business career in the capital planning and acquisitions group of the Pepsi-Cola Company after receiving his MBA from University of Chicago and CPA from the State of Illinois. Mr. Schickli has an undergraduate degree from Carleton College.

 

Raul Segredo

Raul Segredo has over 30 years of aviation and communications experience and is the co-founder and president of Avionica, Inc.  Mr. Segredo has helped drive innovation at Boeing and has founded and lead other technology ventures including Management Technologies (a market-leading hospitality SaaS solution) and Red-Fone (a VOIP equipment and technology supplier). He also worked on the re-establishment of Eclipse Aviation after a $1B+ bankruptcy.  Mr. Segredo holds a BS in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Miami.
